Mwebaze Isharaza (“Isha”) is co-founder and Program Director at the Africa Retreat Centre (ARC). He is a certified Addiction Care & Treatment Specialist, Counsellor and Recovery Coach. Isha is currently pursuing certification as an International Certified Addiction Professional. He is also a student of world-renowned addiction expert Dr. Gabor Maté currently training in Compassionate Inquiry a new and specialist psychotherapeutic approach. Isha is in long term recovery (over 12 years) having struggled with addiction for many years before that. This gives him the experiential knowledge of addiction, in addition to his professional training and expertise. He leads a multidisciplinary team of specialists in the field of mental health and addiction. Isha is the Chairman of the Addiction Prevention and Rehabilitation Association of Uganda (APRAU) and a member of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP).
